What fab memories karena!  :hearts:
My dvd arrived today - so think I might indulge in an episode along with a cuppa + breakfast biccies in bed Friday morning!  That seems like it would be a good start to a day!

Do any of you youngsters know about Muffin the Mule?
I'll never get over losing her and I used to think that eventually
I would learn to live with it - that's not happened yet.

I've often wonder if our very early memories are what we really remember or just what we've often talked or thought about over the years. Mine go back to when I was about 4 yrs old sitting on my grandmas knee curling her hair round my finger and listening (long time before people had TV's) to "Listen with mother".

I was looking at YouTube just now at all the old children's TV programmes - ahh.. to be young again  .

i know nothing whatsoever about muffin the mule (except in passing - usually smutty referrences) but i think listen with mother was on -only it would have been listen with Nan for me - its very vague but was it on just before the archers we listened to something then i think - but the archers theme tune signalled the end of it - by strange co-incidence the archers co-incided with nap time.

Bagpuss was lovely Emz but my kids watched that too ( i made them )

Garlic - first time I can remember any mention of it was when my Dad started taking garlic pills which he had heard were virtually the elixir of life, fortunately they didn't create any aroma that I was aware of. Nowadays I can't imagine cooking without garlic and also ginger. They both go in everything that I cook in my slow cooker .

"Did you get all your photos converted?" - Yes, just about, the count stands at slightly under 1,700 but there might still be an odd box or two in the loft that may never get done . I rather ran out of steam. I don't get out a deal mostly because of health issues and I now recognise that I'm living proof of the old saying about use it or lose it . On top of that, the 3rd anniversary of Chris' death in the same week that would have been our golden wedding anniversary a while ago left me feeling very low and the dark afternoons and evenings just make things worse. Mobility/stability probs prevent me from using my cameras and I've considered selling most of the stuff I've got but up to now I've held off with that.

I was looking at a list of birds that are becoming rare recently and was amazed to see Starlings amongst them. Perhaps the whole british population has come to live in my garden!! As fast as I put food out, flocks of them swoop down and hoover it up.

My mind's wandering now - think I'll go back to YT for some more Trumpton or even Camberwick Green

Oh I love how the different memories and associations spring to mind, like the garlic.  On the topic of wild garlic I have fond memories of a hill where I used to live in west wales which had wild garlic along the edge - love that smell

Sending a hug George, anniversaries are hard  :hearts:
This time of year doesnt help atall, I struggle more nowadays over the winter

Loving the critters! I get a few starlings in my garden, they're very fast at eating the suet pellets I throw out xx

Some years ago Chris and I together wih my brother-in-law and sister-in-law went to Blackpool for a weekend to see the illuminations. One evening we walked out to the end of the central pier to get a better view of the tower all lit up. Suddenly a black cloud appeared out of nowhere, swirling around the pier then out over the sea, back and forth, quite spectacular. After a minute or two the cloud just disappeared - we'd seen the Starlings coming in to roost on the ironwork under the pier. That was one of the most memorable moments of the weekend together with standing on the glass floor at the top of the tower looking straight down to the road . Memories are worth a fortune aren't they?
