Im feeling a bit flat if I'm honest.  Been having some building works at home, my garage within my garden was falling apart and leaking so made plans to replace it.  Its been nerve wracking but had garage and the broken base removed a couple of weeks ago, and only yesterday the replacement concrete base was laid/finished.  With the new building I am getting the specification has been very clear, it has to match a specfic size.  Have been very clear with builder on the exact size (and very repetitive) insisting the base had to be 2.5m x 5m.  But, when the builder left today we just measured it to double check and it is 5cm wider than it should be.  And the company supplying the new building are very specific that it had to be 2.5m.   So feeling really flat and annoyed now.  Think that rules out my ability to replace the building now  :cray:

Hope your day has been ok xx

Hi Emz,
I am really sorry to hear that. This is without a doubt, the builders problem, to put this right.
You gave him specific measurements, that are absolutely crucial, because of the size of the structure, that's going to go on it.
He will either have to get a large angle grinder cutter, with a blade able to cut through concrete and remove 5cm, from it, or he will have to break that base up and redo it, either way, it's his responsibility to do this.
I assume that you have not paid him for this yet, or if you have paid part, you want the work completed, as per the measurements given to him, before you pay the balance.

This causes a great deal of stress, when things like this go wrong , really not what you need at all.
Is there anyway, that you could get someone from the company, that's supplying the new garage, to come and have a look and see if there is a way round fitting it to that base, at the builders expense, obviously.
I really hope that you can get this resolved, there is no excuse for what he has done. xx

I was also wondering if they are internal or external dimensions Space for the wall width 2.5 cm each side. But as woody says its down too the builder to put it right, but certainly might be worth giving the other lot a ring to explain the situation.
Seems to be a day for it my loo has develops a fault tonight which involves water flowing into cistern then straight into pan,So the cistern never fills..Have had to wedge the ballcock to stop it running.
And for tonights entertainment off to Google and learn all about toilets.Oh for the days when Friday nights were a few bevvys, disco and fish and chips.Of the three of those I had fish fingers for tea.Two to go then

Your angels are coming along woody.two versions so far,but can't do any more work on hem t until I can get on PC next week.

Couple of developments since my update.  Spoke to the builder and he said it's not a problem, he'll come back and cut off 5cm.  (The building company specs specify it has to match building size exactly to avoid standing water and rotting the bottom of the building)

So, progress we thought.  Thought, had better check its level - company said it cannot be out by 20mm+.  Knowing size is wrong thought we'd better double check. One half of 5m length is flat/level.  The other end, from the middle to the edge slopes off by 2cm.  Also found a slight hump on right side, 1cm tall - which takes the difference to 3cm in one area if checking length.

Also have a slight concern on one corner.  After the scalpings had been whacked down and shuttering made he dug up the corner and put a pipe in it (he didnt ask us first)  he said this was for electrics to enter the building. When he showed us the pipe in place we had to tell him to remove it  - firstly the electrics would not be entering through the base in that way,  and secondly the electrics are joining at the other end of the building. (5m away from pipe!)  Now base is finished we can see a gap under the corner where this adjustment had been made. (Doesnt appear hole was backfilled properly)  He's said he'll come back and put some concrete under the corner to rectify this

But I'm feeling I'm not sure I want him to come back.  Was in the end of my garden with my dog today and found that where he had used the bench my gramps had built to rest wood on to cut (why he did this I dont know - i saw him too late, he'd already got to the end) he's rubbed off some of the paint on the arms, with a slight nick in the wood.  Not a major disaster but I'm very sentimental about my bench having been close to my gramps and lost him years ago. With all these things adding up not sure I want him to come back!

We're now considering whether we can pursue a different building/slightly different use of base, using a company we've used before, going to see them in the week to have a chat about options/costs.  There's a gardening/landscape company we've used for fencing before so I'm tempted to ask if they are able to help us with the base adjustments, as i know they do patios etc too and I trust them

Not having a good run today either, went over to meet my sister and co for my partners birthday, (he always gets down about birthdays so is a sensitive day) due to travel/dog we're restricted for time, had arranged to meet at cafe at 11 for coffee and cake,  but they didnt arrive into town/car park until 11:20 and would have taken around 20 mins to sort kids/walk over, so we ended up cancelling as my partner was upset (he struggles a bit with anxiety and likes to keep to timescales) - with their lateness we wouldnt have time for rest of plan.   So, not a good run of days lol!  Oh well - can only get better!

Sorry to hear about your toilet karena, hope its an easy fix!  Hope you found the other two to go with your fishfingers!!

Hope you're ok Woody.  Sorry for my extensive/downbeat update! Xx
