Lost
« on: March 02, 2017, 09:04:21 PM »
My life partner Patricia, collapsed and died on her own in kitchen area of the house on October 26th 2015, our son came in from work (he was 17 at the time) and found her laying there.
The frantic phone call I received seconds later has totally changed my "life" from that moment onwards.
She was unique, she was calm and gentle, she was gregarious and fun loving, she had style, grace and elegance, she was wise , she was loyal, she could say things that didn't make sense but you would know what she meant, she was, and is, the love of my life and I am lost without her.

I have written many poems since her passing and thought I would share this particular one on here.

It depicts how I feel on a daily basis and the reason I chose this one is because I am almost certain that the words would be applicable for many people on here.

LOST

Where is my feeling of anticipation

Where is my gentle voice of persuasion

Where is my rock and my foundation

Where is the ease of my frustration

Where are your thoughts and your reflection

Where is your support and your protection

Where are all your silly imperfections

Where is your loving and all your affections

Where is your laughter

Where is your smile

Where is your oh so distinctive style

Where  is my reason for living

Where is my compassion and my sense of forgiving

Where are you Pat,

I’m

A lot of my thoughts are in that poem. I think lost is the word that sums up my life right now.

We are truly in the same boat Hubby.

I have a large tree at the bottom of my garden and last year a certain blackbird visited that tree daily in the Summer months. It used to perch in the highest branch and warble complex and melodic tunes for hours on end.
Pat used to open the conservatory door and stand there amazed at the noises, it amused her no end.

Last Monday I was in the garden pottering about, when this bird (Chirippy Bill as Pat named it) visited for the first time this year, I automatically looked to the conservatory door.

It tore me apart.

I hope some day it get's better for us all in that boat Hubby.

Lovely poem silverbirch, think it sums up exactly how most of us feel, they say time is a great healer and i suppose in a way it is, but when we lose our soulmates it leaves a very big gap in our lives, its so hard to start to live as one person after being two for so long, im sending you all a massive

Take care
Its been a rough week but i made it. How about you 💐

Hello Mike,

It's how you feel and not how you say the words that counts in my eyes.

Hi Norma,

You're right, the gap left is devastating.

The words and sentiment are very reflective of how grief can feel. I too have found myself writing poetry since my mum died. Inspired to let my feelings out. X

Thank you Emmaginary.

dizzylizzy,

I found that the overpowering trauma of grief, unearth words and phrases that are hidden within yourself.
