Post by: Chalkie on May 29, 2018, 09:46:14 PM
New to this, I lost my husband of 28years 1st September 2017 to aggressive prostate cancer. We did everything together & where best friends. I'm lost, so lonely & everyone forgets about you!

 a hug from me too - lonliness is such a hard road to tread.I,m 7 years in and sometimes also feel lonely still, but it has got better.
Its difficult when your friends are generally friends you had as a couple, not just because you feel abandoned but also when you are with them you can actually feel even more lonely than when youre on your own.
For me it has been a mixed journey of learning to be alone but not always lonely, learning new things, and moving in different directions - i was never a social butterfly anyway, but for others here it has been moving into new social circles and a good way to do that is through an interest in common,so night class, voluntary work, book club - have a look at whats going on in your area, and if you dip your toes in the wrong pond then thats ok too, there will be another pond which is right.Meanwhile you are never alone here, i really value not only the help and support from this site over the years but the friendships that have developed from it too.

Thank you it's good to know that it's not just me who feels this way.
