I'm banned from feeding the birds in work

That's a shame. When I was still working, I was always the first one in the office(always got the best parking space) so I had half an hour or so in the mornings to do all the things that I had been banned from doing
I'll never get over losing her and I used to think that eventually
I would learn to live with it - that's not happened yet.

Usually sometime in March in the north depending on the weather,so keep feeding them but try not to go too near the nest box. They will have three or even four broods, the females do the sitting the males keep feeding them for about 3 weeks after they fledge while she hatches the next lot.Poor things must be exhausted by the autumn.

Long edge I can't help wondering what you might have been up too that was banned.but I like the way you think.

My eldest had her appendix removed this morning,She's fine and I know my son in law will look after her,but its times like this I hate being on the other side of the world.

I,m still holding out Norma, just, but I seem to have become unofficial foster mother to three part time dogs now.One thinks its funny to sit in the pond.So now I need fencing before he comes back as the frogs have been very busy today.Actually tomorrow at some point I,m going to have to get my wellies on and shift frogspawn into the deep end or it will freeze.Looks like a sago pudding on steroids in there.

Hi Sazzylou - you've brought some sunshine with you (at least in my neck of the woods)  :yahoo:
I'll never get over losing her and I used to think that eventually
I would learn to live with it - that's not happened yet.

It certainly lifts my spirits together with the lengthening days. I've even started getting out of bed at a decent hour in the mornings just lately!

Hi Norma, not sure if it'll be your cup of tea but I remember I found Stephen Fry s Paperweight really funny some years ago.
I know there are others I liked,  all in the one  vein,   comics  and comedians
Some of Ben Elton's novels , autobiographies  Johnny Vegas  and. Paul Merton  (but for me not Victoria Wood's  unfortunately)
There are others, but can't think what they are..........

I've enjoyed several books written by Alan Titchmarsh although I don't read, I only do listening  and he does his own narration very well. Another 'Yorkshireman' whose books I've found to be worth a listen is an ex school inspector called Gervase Phinn who wrote a series of books about his professional life inspecting Dales Schools, they are full of glimpses of the past and moments of gentle humnour.
I'll never get over losing her and I used to think that eventually
I would learn to live with it - that's not happened yet.

Just found an amazing book. Called 'Black Diamond'. Its the story of the Fitzwilliam family, whose home and estate  was Wentworth Woodhouse, Barnsley,  it had when build in the 17th century and still has today the longest facade of any stately home in europe, yet its not well known.

Back to my book x
